Anxiety and Stress

“Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness. And the word “happy” would lose its meaning were it not balanced by sadness.”

― C.G. Jung

Stress and anxiety affects us all at one time or another, but some people suffer more severely than others. When we experience unwanted thoughts, feelings and behaviours, it can be hard to understand why this keeps happening to us.

When we experience anxiety, it is very often our built-in ‘fight, flight or freeze’ response (our primal defence system) kicking in to “protect” us. The brain instructs the our stress hormones – cortisol and adrenaline – to immediately strengthen our muscles to help us run away or fight off a perceived attacker, even when there is no such physical threat. The problem with this response is that these powerful hormones come with the side effect of making us feel stressed and anxious.

Hypnotherapy is a wonderful way to remove unnecessary and unwanted feelings. Our sessions will give you the tools you need to change the way you feel, reduce stress, and give relief from anxiety – almost right away. Most people notice their feelings begin to change right from the very first session.

I recently did one session with Spencer around the beginning of January after a spectacularly bad year, after a 3 or 4 quite dreadful years anyway, which resulted with me hitting a wall, floor and ceiling for a period of about 6 weeks in the Autumn of 2015.

I was struck off work and prescribed anti depressants and juddered to a total halt mentally. I made some lifestyle changes and belatedly quit a couple of bad habits. I reached out quite a bit and explored AA meetings and tried a counselor for a few sessions. I found it all far to retrospective as I was really looking for something in front of me to refocus on rather than picking through corpses of the past a bit more.

The session lasted approx 60-70 minutes via Skype. I was at home and comfortable. I remember resisting for about the first 10 minutes as it felt weird trying to force the relaxed state of mind but eventually i let go and it became clear afterwards that I had completely tuned out for the middle part of the session. Basically i came around grinning and haven’t really stopped grinning since. It was my first experience of Hypnotherapy and CBT and I have arranged to do one more session to send me on my way towards my new horizons that have emerged from the heavy fog of the past.

I am very impressed by it, the man is obviously a natural at it, and I’m very glad I plucked up the nuts to give him a ring. Confidence, ego, hunger, libido – need i go on – all resuscitated.

Thank you Mr Baldwin. Champion
